Sales were down about a fifth on a year earlier, the third quarter in a row to fall. The federal $7,500 EV tax credit ended on September 30, 2025, so a year earlier buyers could still claim it. Compared with the first quarter of 2026, sales rose about 15%, helped by new arrivals such as the Chevrolet Bolt, Toyota C-HR and Subaru Uncharted and Trailseeker.
